ABOUT US

Center for Indian Cultural Education - Bal Vihar of St. Louis is a volunteer based K-12 Sunday school focusing on teaching all aspects of Indian culture including religion, traditions, values, history, geography, and festivals in order to help students identify with their culture.

The youth group students engage in many community projects to learn the value of community service and to create a sense of oneness within the community.  For the third consecutive year, Bal Vihar of St. Louis partnered with the St. Louis Science Center and Interfaith Quest to create a Canstruction mural from canned goods which are donated to Operation Food Search after several weeks of display. Additionally, we have worked with Shoeman Water Project, Community Action Agency of St. Louis for a poverty simulation game, The Bridge soup kitchen, and Mother Theresa's Ministries, to name only a few.

The students also participate in many interfaith activities in order to broaden their knowledge of all faiths while strengthening the understanding of their own faith.  Bal Vihar hosts International Day of Yoga annually in June to honor the United Nations General Assembly Resolution and also celebrates India's Independence Day with the St. Louis Art Museum patrons in August.

This year the youth students of Bal Vihar have adopted Global Goal # 6 to provide clean water and sanitation for all by 2030.  Towards that, a goal has been set to raise $5,000 from the Walk for Water event to donate for the water crisis around the world.
